Mods — safely
GTA IV's celebrated physics and lighting made it a modding favourite — the iCEnhancer ENB preset practically went mainstream. Use the established, moderated sites, and keep mods to single-player only.

- ModDB — larger projects and conversions.
The usual starting kit
Common free foundations for single-player IV modding (find them on the sites above):
- ScriptHook — the loader most script mods depend on.
- ENB / iCEnhancer — the famous graphics and lighting overhauls.
- FusionFix — community fixes and quality-of-life patches for modern PCs.
GTA IV modding is version-sensitive — many mods target a
specific patch of the original PC game, so people often pin or roll back to a compatible version.
Check each mod's notes for which game version it needs before installing.
Two rules. Don't mod any multiplayer, and avoid "mod menus", cracks
or downloads from random sites — they're a common malware vector. Back up your save first.
